I have always been interested in night photography. It certainly presents different challenges but also rewards. I was walking back toward Midtown through Union Square when I was attracted by the steam coming up from a manhole cover. Just as I was getting prepared to take the photo and practically on cue, a man enters the scene and stops. The fact that he stops was critical. Due to the low shutter speed being used, any movement would have caused blurring. Sometimes you get lucky and come away with a much more interesting photograph than you could have ever imagined.
