Print/Framed Photo Details & Options

Paper Prints

Greg personally prints and then carefully inspects every photograph he sells. Most are printed on 13.8-mil, 300 gsm archival and fine-art-grade paper. The paper base stock is acid-free, lignin-free, and buffered with calcium carbonate, with a life expectancy of over 1,000 years (if not exposed to direct sunlight, water, or physical damage). It is FOGRA Certified ISO 9706 (paper aging standards). There are no markings or logos on the back of the paper. The paper recreates the look of wet darkroom fiber paper.

Greg has discovered that a few photographs appear more visually appealing on photo-quality paper, while most look better on museum-grade paper. Unless you specify otherwise, he will select the paper and finish that results in a more aesthetically pleasing print. However, you can make specific requests for the finish and/or paper type if you prefer. Please contact us for more information.

Paper Print Sizes

⚠️ The image size you select determines the size of the printed photograph, excluding the white border and frame (if any).

⚠️ For any unframed print photo, to ensure it will fit on a wall, we recommend adding 2 inches to the dimensions, plus the border width of the frame you will use.

⚠️ If you are ordering a print to frame yourself, we strongly recommend you purchase/order your frame from your favorite frame dealer after you have received and measured your full print and the border surrounding it.

⚠️ Please contact us if you'd like to order a photograph in a smaller, larger, or custom size or a different ratio. We're happy to check whether that photo can be resized and/or cropped to meet your needs and provide pricing.

Paper Print Border and Signature Options

Unless you request otherwise, all photographs will be printed with a white border surrounding them, personally hand-signed in ink by Greg on the right, and the title of the photograph will be printed on the left.

The border size is up to Greg's discretion, but he typically uses a 1-inch border around the print. For example, if you order a 12-inch x 12-inch photograph, it will typically be sized 14-inch x 14-inch, including the border, but the border may be larger or smaller depending on multiple factors. 

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you desire, to order our photographs without a white border. .

⚠️ If ordered without a border, Greg’s signature will appear on your Signature/Edition card, not on the photograph itself. Additionally, when ordered without a border, a fine white border will still be applied around the image for safer handling. If you would like to display the photograph without any white border, simply have your framer use a matt board or trim it off.

Standard Options:

Paper print framed in a Black frame without glass or acrylic

The print will be mounted on foamboard and framed with a 1-inch black wood frame.

The same black frame, but with the print will be behind glass.

Frame Size

⚠️ The Frame Size, if ordered, is the overall maximum size of the photograph plus approximately 4 inches.

⚠️ For any framed photo, to ensure that it will fit on a wall, we recommend adding 5 inches to the dimensions.

Direct Print on Other Mediums

We offer four standard direct print options on an inset metal back frame for easy installation, just like a traditional frame. This "floating" frame is offset from the edges, making the photograph appear to float on the wall.

Direct print behind acrylic glass

Printing/Edition Information

Each print comes with a signature on the front of the print and a signature/edition card, plus a certificate of authenticity. Examples are below.

Signature/Edition Card

A Signature/Edition card will be included so you may affix it to the back of the frame’s backing. It details the photograph and printing information, size, and the edition number (if any). An example of our Signature/Edition card:
