Watching The Traffic

Watching The Traffic

So many things need to come together in a photograph. This is was photographed on a portion of the High Line in NYC on a rainy cold day. Good photographs happen at any time, regardless of the weather and when you least expect them.  When I rounded the corner I saw two other people already photographing this scene. I immediately thought to myself "get ready".  Depending on the environment, I have preset modes which enable me to react quickly show situations arise.  This was one of them and was very pleased that I was prepared. The position of the truck and the stances of the father and his young daughter were crucial in making the most of what this photograph has to offer. The most subtle differences or nuances can ruin a good photo.  This was not photographed as the image appears.  Three different photographs were brought together to create this composition.  Again, it is not so much what you saw but what you wished you had seen that represents one of the greatest challenges for any photographer.

Archival/Museum Grade Paper

Greg personally prints and then carefully inspects every photograph he sells. Most are printed on 13.8 mil, 300 gsm, archival, and fine art grade paper with a lightly textured semigloss surface. The paper base stock is acid-free, lignin free, and buffered with calcium carbonate with a life expectancy of over 1,000 years (if not exposed to direct sunlight, water, or physical damage). It is FOGRA Certified ISO 9706 (paper aging standards). There are no markings or logos on the back of the paper. The paper recreates the look of wet darkroom fiber paper.

I found that a few photographs look better on photo-quality paper, but most look better on museum-grade paper. I choose whichever paper makes for a better-looking print but you may request the archival/museum-grade paper if desired.

Important: About Image Sizes

All photographs will be printed with a white border surrounding them and are personally hand-signed and numbered in ink by Greg on the right and the title of the photograph is printed on the left.

With this border, the photograph is typically large enough to fit in a larger standard frame size than the photograph size you order. For example, if you order a 12-inch x 12-inch photograph it will typically be sized 14-inch x 14-inch including the border.

Please see Print Details & Options for more information about the photograph sizes, borders, signature, and other options.
