It's all about the perspective. I have been to the Hubbard Tower located in Hubbard Park in Montpelier many, many times and have never been able to find a suitable photograph. Even though I always went inside the Tower each time I was there, I apparently thought it should be photographed from the outside. On this particular day, the only possible option was an interior one, given the weather. This time, I really took the time to look, and what had been in front of me all along finally made sense. This photograph creates a rather M. C. Escher-like scene of the interior stairway within the tower. I attempted to intensify the gritty nature of the interior, toning the black-and-white image to pick up details in the stairway and even the reflections in the stone. I always knew there was a photograph here, and finally I found it.
